Overview

Objectives

The “SMILE” initiative is contributing to a sustainable environmental, economic and societal growth at the Baltic Sea Region. Development of practical solutions for the shipping industry, called service packages, will make it easier to reduce emissions and optimise the operation of vessels.

Allowing ships easy access to service packages focusing on cleaner and more efficient shipping is a fast way to implement new practice based on the needs for meeting SECA and NECA regulations. During the seed money period, important players for the development and use of new service packages will be identified and the structure of cooperation fields will be examined.

Through cooperation between maritime clusters and players within the maritime value chain, environmental issues at sea and in the harbours will be addressed.
