Overview

Background & Policy context

Epoxy coated rebars are widely used in North America since 1970. In Switzerland, the first application dates back to 1988. They are mainly used for bridges in marine environments or in areas where deicing salt is used. The performance of epoxy coated rebars is discussed controversially in the literature.
A guideline for the quality or epoxy coated rebars and their application was created in Switzerland in 1991.
