Overview
Objectives
This project aims at preparing studies for the expansion of the port of Lesport as a part of the port of Varna - a public port of national importance. It eventually aims to provide safe maritime access with adequate capacity, reliable TEN-T hinterland connections from the port to the rest of the TEN-T network (rail and road connections), as well as ensuring that the port is in line with environmental requirements.
Methodology
The studies include the following three key activities:
- analysis of field data, which mostly concerns detailed hydrographical assessment, soil information and geotechnical analysis with respect to geotechnical stability
- environmental impact assessment of the port development
- design related to construction of new liquid cargo and bulk grain terminals
