Taxi of the future
Overview
Background & policy context:
There has been a steady decline in the number of taxis across the country. In some areas of the country - particularly in rural areas - it is no longer possible to order a taxi. At the same time an unregulated and illegal taxi market has grown rapidly forward - first and all represented by the company Uber - which makes use of new technology and new business models.
Government will not legalize Uber, such as Uber running today. But the government also does not believe that it is possible nor desirable to try to turn back time to the classic taxi.
It is about how we get a grip on opportunities in technological development best make society share in the benefits in a manner that is both characterized by dynamics and decent conditions.
Therefore, we must find a third way between the traditional taxi market, with a
control that is set in concrete, which is neither provide optimal service to customers or
development opportunities for businesses, and a "Wild-West" market, where there is no
track tax payments, consumer protection and road safety.
Objectives:
The objective of the project is to develop a fully functional system of taxi services in Denmark.
Methodology:
We must take advantage of the technological opportunities and make use of the new business models, but there are some core values, we should not compromise on:
- The tax must be paid
- Consumer protection must be in order
- Traffic safety must not be weakened
