Overview
Identification of measures for smoothing the traffic flow in order to reach a temporal homogenisation of traffic network load. Additionally, illustrating and evaluating the measures concerning their efficiency and effectiveness. Tackling the issue of an optimal framework for infrastructure use in Switzerland and abroad.
This research project aimed to provide a structured outline of influential criteria on mobility behaviour and to identify measures for a temporal homogenisation of traffic network load. The examined measures should be considered in relation to the influence of highly loaded traffic times. The measures with the best chances of successful implementation were subsequently modelled with respect to their effect on the traffic peaks. For this purpose, data of the Swiss Mobility and Transport Microcensus as well as data of the German Mobility Panel was used. The latter provides the possibility to develop good reactivity indicators for traffic participants, which could also be used in Switzerland. Finally, an economic analysis of the measures took place, followed by the policy recommendation for implementation.
