TRAWA - Traffic Awareness
Overview
Objectives:
TRAWA aims to contribute to the development standards in the Remote Pilot Aircraft System (RPAS) Detect and Avoid (DAA) functionality in support of EUROCAE Working Group 105, in particular:
• DAA Remain Well Clear specification: separation in airspace classes and flight rule combinations where the pilot is responsible for separation provision.
• DAA Remain Well Clear Human Machine Interface requirements
• DAA sensor detection range identification given certain speed ranges of the RPAS and potential intruders.
TRAWA results have been presented to EUROCAE WG 105, external stakeholders (RPAS industry, research institutes, pilot associations, ANSP’s), JARUS, the RPS-S project funded by EDA, the MIDCAS project, the NATO FINAS SAA Specialist team, the ICAO RPAS panel WG3, and the Member States of the As-if Programme Committee for the Preparatory Action on Defence Research (AIPC).
The project has produced six standardisation documents, which together with the supporting simulation software, have been provided to EUROCAE WG105.
