Overview

Objectives

Main transit routes often experience congestion with following delays at tolling stations during peak traffic seasons. The main reason for those delays is mainly an inefficient use of the lanes at the tolling station.

Project VaMOS aims at optimizing the throughput by

  1. visual analysis of the traffic at the tolling plaza, and by
  2. integrating traffic information from ASFINAG.

A prediction of the incoming traffic together with optimizing the lane assignment to incoming vehicles will be demonstrated with a prototype. The system will be operated in real-time at a tolling station for at least 2 months.
