Overview
Background & policy context:
The Action is part of a Global Project that aims at strengthening and expanding the cross-Channel business by adapting existing port infrastructures of Ports of Normandie and reducing the ecological footprint by setting-up facilities for alternative fuels.
The Action is part of the comprehensive trans-European transport network and contributes to the TEN-T Atlantic core network corridor.
Objectives:
The purpose of the Action is to increase the water depth and create a basic infrastructure to improve logistics activities of Ports of Normandie. Works involve improving harbour access by dredging the channel and setting up storage facilities for supplying vessels with LNG at Caen-Ouistreham port. It also involves building a multimodal terminal to connect Cherbourg port with the rail network.
