Overview

Objectives:

Creating new urban Mobility. Together. Step by Step. The urban innovation lab aspern.mobil LAB is designed to be a space of innovation, were citizens, scientists and developer and local stakeholder work together to take part in making a sustainable urbane mobility the reality of the future. The LAB attempts to establish a culture of innovation and mobility in Seestadt neighbourhood, that should become a flagship site for Austrian innovation.

The LAB will be a place where citizens, local stakeholder and R&D work hand in hand. The qualities of the Seestadt, make it the perfect site: in a neighbourhood, were all are new, it is easier to establish new routines. Being part of the LAB bears the chance, to actively co-design the parts of the Seestadt that are being built. The it is also the perfect site to work as a testbed for industrial and service applications. The“Mobilitätsfonds,” fund for innovative mobility solutions, makes possible to locally scale certain key projects.

Projects of the LAB are accumulated around to research paths: active mobility and mobility as a service. The special focus – neighbourhood mobility – provides ideal transfer potential. A distinct set of methods and processes was designed to integrate various knowledge-sources throughout the entire design process. These include: methods of participation, design thinking, rapid prototyping and the mobility panel.
