Overview

Objectives

The VALERIE project aims to explore modal analysis of lithium-ion batteries through a bundle of experimental and simulation methods. Its potential for diagnostics and in vehicles will be tested. Parameters like State of Charge and ageing are to be derived from the reaction of the cell to mechanical signals and it is to be explored whether this method could be robust enough to withstand interference as it would occur inside a running electrical vehicle.

The results are to form a basis for a subsequent project for more practical implementation, this would be a major contributor to cost reduction and raised performance in future battery systems through significantly improved diagnostics of lithium-ion batteries
