Overview

Objectives

The ZELAG project proposed an eco-sustainable solution for public transport in inland waters, with particular reference to the Grado lagoon in Italy.

Results

A boat was built and equipped with hybrid-electric propulsion, which allowed the total reduction of polluting emissions and radiated noise. To ensure a complete respect for the nature, the project also studied hull shapes which generates very low wave formations in order to safeguard the seabed.
Eco-sustainability has also been respected throughout the "life cycle" of the boat choosing a construction material that can be disposed of once it becomes waste, in compliance with all European regulations on the treatment of hazardous waste.
