Welcome to the February edition of the Transport Research and Innovation Monitoring and Information System (TRIMIS) Newsletter. TRIMIS is an online platform for policy makers and researchers to share and discuss innovation in transport and mobility in Europe.
In this month’s newsletter, we highlight the European Commission's Joint Research Centre's ‘EU Transport Research & Innovation Status Assessment Report 2020', providing updates on the seven STRIA roadmaps’. We also feature the technical report ‘Sustainable use of Materials through Automotive Remanufacturing to boost resource efficiency in the road Transport system (SMART)’, which investigates the contribution of end-of-life practices in decreasing the environmental impacts of the European fleet in the future.
Alongside this, we feature a selection of projects such as:
- 3EMOTION – providing policymakers and financing institutions with the necessary arguments to invest in fuel cell buses to reduce harmful local emissions;
- IW-NET – ongoing research into reducing inland waterways transport greenhouse gas emissions by two thirds by 2050 through sustainable infrastructure management, digitalisation and innovative vessels.
