TRIMIS Newsletter

Welcome to the July edition of the Transport Research and Innovation Monitoring and Information System (TRIMIS) Newsletter. TRIMIS is an online platform for policy makers and researchers to share and discuss innovation in transport and mobility in Europe.

This month, we highlight the Sustainable transport – new urban mobility framework initiative, encouraging you to participate in the open public consultation related to this. In addition, we feature the Insights into Railway Innovation Through Patenting Trends report by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) and the European Union Agency for Railways (ERA). This shows that an increasing number of high-value inventions in railway technology are being developed in the European Union – predominantly in the fields of rolling stock; and control, command and signalling.

We also bring you a selection of projects such as:

  • NOVIMOVE, improving container load factors and reducing waiting times in seaports;
  • SENECA, developing a detailed model to reduce the emissions, landing and take-off (LTO) noise and the environmental impact of supersonic aircraft;
  • X2Rail-4, aims to advance the research and development of key technologies within railway transport;
  • Total High Power Charging, developing a trans-European network of high power charging stations powered by 100% renewable electricity.

This issue also presents a selection of forthcoming events from the TRIMIS database. Some events will be delivered in an online format due to the ongoing travel restrictions. For more news and updates from the TRIMIS team, please follow us on LinkedIn and look out for #TRIMIS_EU tagged posts from @Transport_EU or @EU_ScienceHub on Twitter.
