Welcome to the May edition of the Transport Research and Innovation Monitoring and Information System (TRIMIS) Newsletter. TRIMIS is an online platform for policy makers and researchers to share and discuss innovation in transport and mobility in Europe.
In this month’s newsletter, we highlight the updated Research and innovation in low-emission alternative energy for transport in Europe report, which considers the latest developments in the field and includes hydrogen. 2021 marks the European Year of Rail. The Rail transport research and innovation in Europe report, our second highlight, provides a comprehensive analysis of research and innovation initiatives in Europe in this field.
We also include a selection of projects such as:
- RESURGAM, research into using friction steel welding to repair ships without the need to travel to the nearest dry dock;
- REVOLUTION, aiming to overcome the challenges that hinder the use of recycled materials in the automotive industry;
- SIMBAD, exploring the use of machine learning techniques for air traffic management concepts and technologies;
- SENATOR, creating a new urban logistic model to respond to the requirements of the ‘on demand economy’.
This issue also presents a selection of forthcoming events from the TRIMIS database. Some events will be delivered in an online format due to the ongoing travel restrictions.
