The future of the road network in England - investment, infrastructure and the role of Highways England

This conference will provide a timely opportunity to discuss the strategic roads network in England.

Delegates will discuss the impact of the £15 billion Government 'Road investment strategy', including 400 miles of extra capacity on the network through the creation of 'smart motorways' enhancing connections between Birmingham, Manchester, Yorkshire and London, and designating A roads as expressways with improvements to traffic flow.

The agenda will also look at priorities for road users, and investment on a regional as well as national level, including discussion of maintenance of local roads following the announcement that 28 councils have been awarded £275m for local road maintenance from the Challenge Fund, in March 2015.
