Overview
On 12-13 October 2022, 08:30-13:00, LIFE will hold an online platform meeting on the theme of green mobility.
This meeting will bring together around 60 LIFE project beneficiaries and LIFE-funded NGOs, working on green mobility issues. It will highlight lessons and best practices for promoting innovations in green mobility. Legal and market barriers to its uptake will also be presented. Strategic feedback will be provided to policymakers, so that they can advance the planning, implementation and uptake of long-lasting green mobility policies and actions.
Four specific working groups are foreseen:
- Innovative materials and technologies
- Transport planning and design
- Fuels
- Greening conventional transport

Policy background
In December 2020, the European Commission presented its Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy’ together with an Action Plan of 82 initiatives. This strategy lays the foundation for how the EU transport system can achieve its green and digital transformation and become more resilient to future crises. As outlined in the European Green Deal, the result will be a 90% cut in emissions by 2050, delivered by a smart, competitive, safe, accessible and affordable transport system.
