Overview

Objectives:

The aim of the air forum is to redesign the movement area between Tallinn city centre and the Old City Harbor and reduce transport pollution.

The aim of the research carried out by the University of Tartu is to model air pollution in the movement area between Tallinn city centre and the Old City Harbor and to evaluate the resulting health impacts on five different spatial scenarios based on the goals of the Air Forum project. This involves modelling the propagation of the main air pollution characteristics (PM10, PM2.5, NOx) and drawing up maps of air pollution scattering.

Based on the results, the average airborne exposure of the population due to the location of the population in the centre of Tallinn is calculated using GIS solutions. The resulting exposure is used to assess the reduction in health effects due to changes in traffic patterns and to produce impact maps.
