Overview
Putting down its roots into the road traced by the strategic call of the previous programming period and its project, AlpCheck 2 aims at creating a road transport model covering the whole Alpine area that supports the public decision makers by providing free on line access to a vast set of traffic data: actual data and simulated data concerning a set of future scenarios will be interactively accessible.
Environmental data (atmospheric and noise emissions, money value of impacts) will also be available. Innovative technologies, solutions and methodologies will be elaborated, tested and evaluated as well. The project has a strong trans-national character both for exploiting synergies with other projects and for seeking the necessary Institutional support.
An innovative transport planning tool, new evaluation methodologies and new technologies will be delivered to the Alpine Community, which are expected to contribute to improve competitiveness and quality of life of Alpine territories.

Results
Under the technical profile, relevant results have been achieved for what is concerned with the TDSS such as finalization of the core network (georeferenced representation modelling the alpine road network), the first calibration of the transport model, the first infrastructure scenario at 2020 and the off-line installation of the AlpCheck2 system.
Furthermore, application of dispersion model and Environmental Sensitivity Index in Slovenia have been achieved together with a review of social cost of road transport externalities. All the pilots are running: two are in the final stage (evaluation of results), while two are in the design and data collection for testing phase. Methodology for assessing the quality of technical achievements is defined in its main components. In networking and dissemination the Mid-Term Conference was organized, 11 external Institutions involved for being part of the Trans-national Platform Panel and 11 Project identified to cooperate with.
