Overview

Objectives

The main aim of the project is to create a genetic database of selected species of mammals to be used for evaluation of landscape fragmentation in the Czech Republic. When constructing new roads or reconstructing the existing ones, this database will be used to evaluate the degree of fragmentation based on genetics in order to propose adequate measures to secure permeability of the area (design of wildlife crossings etc.). It is an innovative method with positive impacts on the cost-effectiveness and the environment.
