Overview

Objectives

Novel post-Li-Ion battery cell technologies are the main requirements for further development of future electric drives with significantly increased driving range. The main goal of this project (BiLiLuBat) is therefore the development of a bimodal Li-air battery, which operates in standard environment (air). Main targets are an optimized design of the li-air cathode, development of suitable bifunctional catalyst and optimization of the electrolyte system. A novel construction concept of the cell will be realized and a functional prototype demonstrated. To ensure sustainability, an estimation of environmental relevance of the materials and eco-design of the developed Li-air battery with investigation of the possible recycling potentials will be carried out.
