Overview
The project focuses on the development of three-stage stormwater runoff purification technology including mechanical pre-treatment, biological stage and tertiary treatment stage represented by an infiltration facility or alternatively accumulation.
The proposed technology allows variable arrangement, taking into account the variability of pollution levels and the amount of stormwater runoff and reflects the need for environmental and economic sustainability.
The project will, through computer simulation and laboratory tests, optimize design of mechanical pre-treatment. Based on the monitoring of exposed sites, it will be proposed wetland area, including aerobic and anaerobic stage. Its elimination efficiency against contaminants will be increased by active inoculation by the selected bacterial strains and wetland vegetation.
It will be proposed an infiltration facility, including its water level control system and a device for water retention in the landscape to minimize the negative effects of the urbanized areas with the possibility of its further use in situ.
