Overview
FREIGHT4ALL aims to tackle the fragmented functioning of transnational multimodal freight transport chains by providing an interoperable and distributed ICT solution. It will facilitate remote collaboration of the involved parties and jointly use of available e-logistics systems, thus strengthening territorial cohesion and providing cost effective and sustainable services. The real life cases and extensive communication program will effectively capitalise results to the wider transport community.

State of the art of project implementation since the project start The Freight4all project communicates its achievements by exploiting the capabilities of the website (www.med-freight4all.eu) and extended partners' business networks. The transport and logistics community is kept updated about the project latest developments through the regular distribution of communication material having also the opportunity to join the Freight4all Community. Based on the sound and justified analysis of the Generic Harmonisation Framework and System Architecture, Freight4all has developed the ICT platform using leading edge technological methods and tools. The F4all platform is now available for integration with the partners backends based on the demonstrator requirements. Six demonstration cases are gradually being set up and will be used for testing the F4all Platform in real life running scenarios. Latest project activities and outputs Freight4all has provided the first internal training seminar for the partners preparation in view of the Regional Training Events scheduled to take place till the beginning of 2013. The cross fertilisation activities, with other projects, have started with the invitation as key note speaker in the last Project Meeting, of a representative from Piraeus Port Authority (Project Manager of several MED projects relevant to the F4all agenda).
The four components of the Freight4all platform were developed and integrated functioning complementary by
- providing secure access to the platform and its data,
- enabling the creation of workflows reflecting various operational scenarios,
- tackling the communication limitations in the electronic exchange of documents and
- supporting the assessment & benchmarking of the transport chain processes.
A live demo of the platform operation, using as test bed a typical transnational multimodal transport business case using IPBO and VPF backend systems has successfully been presented to all partners. Furthermore, the six demonstrators are gradually being set up towards the implementation/demonstration phases. Next key steps for the project The Communication activities will continue with the further mobilisation of the Freight4all Community and organisation of the first Regional Training Event and Workshop. The final integration activities of the Freight4all Platform also with the partners IT solutions will take place, thus supporting the demonstration activities. The Freight 4 All end solution will be implemented in six real transport cases validating its applicability and extended operational potential. The demonstration activities will be undertaken based on the specific Demonstration and Evaluation Plans.
