Overview
In rail freight transport, goods can be transported in large quantities in a particularly environmentally friendly manner. It is important to guarantee the safe transport of goods - especially hazardous goods. Therefore, the brakes, wheel bearings and mileage of the wagons must be checked regularly.
The project aims at implementing an automated and energy-autonomous maintenance planning. The planned assistance system is designed to make maintenance in rail freight transport safer and more efficient and to relieve employees of manual, physically demanding maintenance work. Older employees in particular benefit from this and are thus able to work longer. Information on the car's condition is communicated to the employees via a man-machine interface which should be developed. Since freight trains do not have their own on-board voltage, energy-autonomous sensor systems must be developed.
