Overview

Objectives

The change in the culture of mobility makes it ever more important to assess multimodal transport services in terms of their efficiency, but two requirements are so far missing in this regard: data of long-term mobility behaviour over at least one week and a method for the analysis of multimodality in these data. Such a long-term mobility survey will be conducted for the first time in Austria as part of the FWF-project Valuing (travel) time.

ULTIMO aims at taking this opportunity to create the requirements mentioned above:

  1. a method for the automatic recognition of trip purposes in GPS trajectories to enable fully automated and burden-free long-term surveys of the travel behaviour in the future; and
  2. a method for analysing the relationships between multimodal transport services and their demand.
