The Interreg IVA “Trenino DomoAlpi” project intends to promote regional rail traffic (and hence sustainable mobility) on the Domodossola-Briga-Domodossola track, which is part of the International Sempione route. The project aims at the development of new tourist flows between Switzerland and the Piedmont region and to create an integrated tourist offer on both sides of the alps. The project does not take into account the creation of new infrastructures but will reach its objectives through: the analysis and studies following the action plan, the enhancement and improvement of the quality of the current public rail services (new time schedule, new trains, ticket validity in both countries, integration with other public transport such as busses and ferries), the development of a clear and complete information system (both on trains and in stations), the development of a marketing plan, the promotion and distribution of services in both markets, the training of the operators.
