Overview

Background & policy context:

I-CVUE aims to reduce harmful emissions in urban environments by increasing the number of electric vehicles (EVs) in large fleets, targeting both fleet operators and policymakers. The project is co-funded by the European Commission’s “Intelligent Energy Europe” programme. The aim of this programme is to create better conditions for large scale EV adoption in order to create a more sustainable energy future.

Objectives:

The overall objective of the project is to boost the uptake of EVs in Europe and to replace a significant number of vehicles with their electric counterparts.
I-CVUE will deliver the following tangible outputs during the project lifetime:
• 1000 EVs: The uptake of EVs in fleets includes both purchased and leased EVs
• business cases: Fleets will be offered whole life cost analysis along with emission data and information on the expected commercial benefit of substituting traditionally fuelled vehicles with their electric counterpart.

• regional authority support: a framework to set up incentive programs according to
the specific socio-economic conditions of the city, region or country
• software: a web-based decision support tool applicable for both policymakers and
fleet operators to evaluate business cases and incentive schemes independently.

Methodology:

  1. Identify and sign up large fleets round Europe which will receive fleet monitoring and analysis free of charge.
  2. Transfer best practices by applying existing knowledge and capabilities, and by exchanging and disseminating best practices between regions and applications.
  3. Develop a web-based tool to enable a large number of interested stakeholders across Europe to test their individual cases in their specific regional environments.
