Overview

Objectives

The general intended impact of the project is to contribute to savings during realisation of constructions of traffic infrastructure and to give basis for revision and improvement of current directives. The particular goal then is the improvement of the system of correlative dependencies and the evaluation methodology of the dynamic penetration test. The results of the project will be represented by the following outputs : - definition of correlative relations between quantities obtained through the dynamic penetration test (the cone penetration resistance, the number of blows, the torque) and the geotechnical characteristics for exactly defined soil types with the most widespread appearance through the Czech Republic territory. - definition of unified criteria for checking the quality of the compaction of embankments and backfills by the dynamic penetration test - giving basis for revision of related directives. The project works will be carried out in the following stages : year 2014 : Summary state of art and archive materials, estimation of relevant localities and suitable types of soils, start of the field works. year 2015 : performance of the field and laboratory tests, gathering of results for statistical evaluation- starting development of equipment for record of blow for light dynamic machine year 2016 : completion of the field and laboratory tests, result analysis, statistical evaluation, finding out the correlation facts- development of equipment for record of blow for light dynamic machine year 2017 : completion of development of equipment for record of blow for light dynamic machine, creation of software for interpretation of penetration tests and probabilistic analysis of geotechnical data, formulation of the final report, certified methodology with recommendations for the use of penetration tests in road construction.
