Overview
The CORMA project developed a complete underwater noise monitoring system that was able to reconstruct the noise space in a sea basin, taking into account the morphology of the seabed and the physical properties of the water column.
The sensors developed would, ad hoc, transmit the collected data to a centralised system that is able to represent the state of the noise in near real-time on a web-based platform.
Results
This system allowed the evaluation of the impact on marine and coastal activities and to manage the possible crisis, as well as planning possible mitigation activities. The new acquisition system is supplied both as a module to be installed on buoys and platforms which already operate for other purposes and as a small autonomous unit equipped with power systems based on green technologies.
