Overview

Objectives

The project aims to develop the basis of a balanced, sustainable transport system in the cross-border region by elaborating mobility studies and transport development plans in the metropolitan areas of Oradea and Debrecen.

The main goal of the project is the joint creation of a planning and analyzing framework on the base of collected and measured data so smooth extension of local systems to the cross-border region will be possible.

Having regard to the existing needs, the CROSSTRANS project has a broaden cover in terms of beneficiaries, therefore underlying the importance of the approached themes:

  • partners institutions which are responsible for the project’s implementation, 15 local authorities from the catchment area of Oradea and Debrecen Cities.
  • Local, regional and central authorities with competencies in the development of local public transport systems, local, regional public and private transport operators.
  • 200,000 daily users of the transport system from the targeted area.
  • Almost 500,000 citizens from Debrecen and Oradea metropolitan areas, tourists, 12 neighbouring communes from the cross-border region, persons that will transit the project area, SME’s from the urban and rural areas of the cross-border regions.
