Overview

Objectives:

Drivers are subject to an excessive volume of stimuli, created either in or out of the vehicle. The capability to cope with these stimuli varies, consequently they react differently. At the same time, there are partial legislative tools, controlling location of informative media surrounding roads. The aim of the project is to set a reliable methodology to assess the influence of the indiviual stimulus on driver's attention and consequently his safe driving. Moreover, a methodology to asses the capability of the driver to register and react to the traffic signs and other traffic information, especially intelligent changeable signs and the third methodology assesses the reduction of driver's capacity to react to any stimuli in traffic due to their natural disability, caused by injury, illness or age. To perform the processes of assessment, there are three software tools to be developed as well: a simple tool, usable for evaluation of driver's capacity limits to react to various stimuli, second to assess the influence of commercial information media at the roads (billboards) and last to evaluate the reactiveness of the driver to traffic signs, especially the changeable ones.
