Overview
The aim of the project is to analyse existing data sources (databases) about public transport in major towns from the Czech Republic (Prague, Brno, Ostrava, Plzen, Ceske Budejovice, etc.). Results of these analyses will form the basis for the design, implementation, pilot testing of effective transport and telematics applications, physically or virtually integrating existing technologies with the technologies that support detailed monitoring of the flow of technology-based floating vehicles (FCD) installed in public transport vehicles. The existing traffic management systems will be extended using a module for processing on-line traffic data / information from public transport vehicles. The new traffic control centre’s module allows a real-time evaluation of the obtained data, further connection with statistical and historical data and their interpretation for the management and monitoring of urban road traffic. This upgrade of the existing functionalities increases the quality of the current traffic information, traffic incident detection, but also the possibilities of traffic control.
The aim of the project (with reference to the content of the subprogram in which the project proposal is submitted) will be filled with the following main steps:
- Definition of user’s requirements
- Implementation of the system (hardware and software parts)
- Pilot operation of the system
- Evaluation of the pilot operation Further recommendations how to deploy FCD public transport systems in other urban areas in the Czech Republic will be prepared.
