Overview
This project is conducted to apply technology available in other Member States to Malta. This enables wireless communication between vehicle licence plates on the one side and authorised readers on the other, which has been tested locally for applicability to enforcement and traffic management.
The objective of this project is to verify that the application of RFID technology is feasible, in order to allow vehicles to be reliably identified.
The methodology involved empirical testing with antennas installed in key locations and RFID plates and stickers on applied to the Authority's fleet.
Results
Some issues were encountered while testing RFI technology on plates and windscreen stickers.
