Electromobility model regions

With the “Electromobility Model Regions” funding programme, the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) supports cross-sectoral cooperation of industry, science and the public sector, in order to advance the development of infrastructure and to integrate electromobility in everyday life. The funding of electromobility is thus seen as a cross-cutting task for the different action areas. What do future users expect from the different electric vehicles? How can electromobility complement local public transport? What should the charging infrastructure look like? Issues about transport policy will be raised as well as questions about future energy supply, research policy and regional planning and urban development.

For this reason several model regions were created which, with different approaches and focuses, are dedicating themselves to these questions. Seven supra-regional platforms facilitate the exchange of experiences and interlinking over the longer term.

NOW GmbH National Organisation Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology coordinates these tasks on behalf of the Federal Government. The focus point is the concept of sustainable mobility for our society. The battery-operated electric car will make a significant contribution to this end.
