Overview
Background & policy context:
The main purpose of HIPPOPS is to simplify and harmonise authorisation processes and procedures for the placing of on board and track side ERTMS subsystems and products into operation/service.
Objectives:
Main objectives of the proposed action are the following:
- Understand the current authorisation processes and procedures for ERTMS in the different Member States and assess their differences and particularities.
- Identify the main obstacles and technical issues in an authorisation process for ERTMS in different Member States.
- Define and elaborate simplified and harmonised ERTMS authorisation processes and procedures across Member States with paying special attention to corridors.
HIPPOPS is expected to contribute to the reduction of costs and time needed
for authorisation of ERTMS subsystems and products.
