Overview

Background & Policy context

The research project is intended to provide representative results for the evaluation of the quality features in a selected freight transport sector.

Strategies in logistics determine more and more the decisions in freight transport market and therefore have to be taken into account in the qualitative part of the project.

Objectives

The goal of this study is an in depth evaluation of quality of five fundamental characteristics (time, reliability, price, flexibility and frequency) of transport and logistics decisions in the distribution logistics sector in Switzerland. A main focus is on the relationship between the quantitative and qualitative inquiry by embedding the evaluation of the quality characteristics in the context of logistic strategies by shippers and logistic service providers.

Methodology

The project is essentially based on the method of the adaptive conjoint analysis and a tested software tool. Will be conducted a representative survey of shippers and logistics service providers.
