Overview

Background & Policy context

ITS Guide has been developed under the AMTRANS National Research and Development Programme, 'Development of infrastructures and improvement of transport conditions' sub-programme.

Information and communication technology has become the technologic support used for acquisition, processing, storage, dissemination and obtaining information, in real time, in all economic and social areas.

Information Society Technologies in transports contribute to the major requirements achievement regarding: sustainable development, mobility, safety and security.

These technologies play an essential role in pan-European political goals regarding congestions decrease and means of transport intermodality improvement.

Objectives
  • The development of a structured, coherent and consistent guide, accessible on Internet with information regarding Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS);
  • The development of a promotional CD with information regarding the Intelligent Transport Systems for ITS users and developers;
  • The development of a paper guide for ITS users and developers.
Methodology

ITS Guide is offered on a website in Romanian language and, respectively, in English language.
