Overview
The Action would have contributed to the implementation of the TEN-E Project of Common Interest 10.3 SINCRO.GRID and of the TEN-T core network. Along the TEN-T core network in Croatia, the Action aimed at analysing means to increase the competitiveness and efficiency of the Croatian railway system in line with the smart grid approach developed under the SINCRO.GRID PCI.
The planned scope of the Action entailed: the impact assessment of the proposed technical solution; the proposal for a new regulatory framework and electricity payment model; the deployment of a pilot project; the business plan for the nation-wide deployment of the solution; communication and visibility activities; and the management of the Action
The main objective of the Action was to demonstrate the technical, regulatory and commercial viability for the optimization of the railway system electricity consumption, building upon reactive power and regenerative braking power considerations.

Results
The Action has started but progress remained very limited due to delays in procurement. In view of optimizing resources, the beneficiary decided to carry-out an assessment of the electricity consumption for the whole railway network at once. This Action, focussed on a portion of the network only, was consequently terminated.
