Overview

Background & Policy context

The Port of Gothenburg is a Core port located on the Scandinavian-Mediterranean Corridor. The Action is part of a Global Project covering the movement of freight (intermodal transport units, i.e. trailers) by autonomous vehicles from the pick-up site to the DFDS logistics terminal, via public road, to the port loading and discharging site.

Objectives

The Action will develop a smart logistics solution to optimise the multimodal supply chain. A cloud system will be developed and implemented to control autonomous electric vehicles. Infrastructure will be built to digitalise the pilot testing area (charging stations, data collection points and monitoring system) and the port (traffic control tower, smart gate, increased surveillance, dedicated areas for loading, unloading and storage). Training of personnel will also be organised.

Methodology

The Action will realise the real life combination of intelligent software, automated vehicles, smart infrastructure and logistics expertise to create a safe, sustainable, efficient and interoperable system. Throughout access to live data and monitoring of transport unit and cargo at any time prediction of traffic system will be significantly improved.
