Overview

Objectives:

The main objective of the proposal is the development of a supervised Electrical Power Distribution System (EPDS) model, in Modelica language at a functional modelling level. This will permit future integration into an Energy Management Model (EMM) for advanced studies and design based on the Virtual Aircraft.

The EPDS will be developed for a Generic Architecture (GA), as required by the Call. A key feature of the proposed solution is the definition of a dedicated Intelligent Load Power Management (I-LPM) function configured as a supervisory control system. Current state-of-the-art control design techniques, e.g. Petri Nets, will be employed, and rigorous proofs of stability will be provided for selected cases of interest. One of the new characteristics of the proposed controller is the use of Solid State Power Controller (SSPC) both for load shedding and for power load transfer under I-LPM supervision, which makes these components both active and safety devices.

A detailed testing and refinement phase will be developed, considering also failure mode analysis with fault scenarios defined ad hoc.

Coherently with the above description, the articulation of the activities encompasses three work packages, for the functional modelling of the GA, for the definition and design of the I-LPM and for the optimization phases, respectively.
